One Man's Journey Into All-Natural Plant Nutrition, Begun on Earth Day

Chinook Compost Tea began as a personal quest into the benefits and advantages of using all-natural biology for my lawn, shrubs, and landscaping. I started with a small brewer to prepare compost tea for my own yard, flowers, and shrubs. Applying the compost tea made everything in my yard healthier and more vibrant. I stopped using pesticides and inorganic fertilizers. I told my friends about the benefits I'd discovered, and I began spraying their yards with compost tea so they could see for themselves what a difference it made. They were as impressed with the results as I was, and they encouraged me to go into business to provide that service.

I'd been gardening all my adult life, and I've always been concerned about the environment. I decided to name my company after the Chinook salmon, which are endangered partially because of the pesticides and inorganic fertilizers that enter salmon-spawning streams as a result of runoff from residential yards and landscaping.
